When Mimi, a scrappy crossbreed dog, falls out of a painting of old, she is lost in the real world of a museum, the home of Harold, an art-loving but snobbish dog. Armed only with her determination and Harold‘s friendship, Mimi recklessly jumps into paintings to find her beloved owner - and Harold becomes the hero he never dreamt of being.

Mimi is a brave, scruffy dog belonging to Evi, a little girl. One day, playing in a wheat field with her owner, Mimi sees the whole world around her falling apart, the fields and Evi vanishing before her fearful eyes.

Summoning all her courage, she hurls herself into the white nothingness! In the present day, Harold, an-other dog, a real one, is with his owner, Lori, in a gallery. Harold, who aspires to be an artist, is waiting for inspiration to strike. Mimi, a painted dog, gradually wins over the proud and superior Harold, by showing him - a highbrow lover of art - her ability to leap into paintings. Travelling together through their greatest adventure and the dizzying history of painting, from Da Vinci to Kandinsky, the doggy duo will need to be
brave and clever in their race against time - as the artworks around them begin to disappear. Only Harold, with his fine knowledge about art, can guide her through the masterworks of the past, to find Evi and her true place in art history.

MIMI & HAROLD - OUT OF FRAME is a breathless and fetching adventure through the world of art, with two quarrelling dog-buddies who will stop at nothing to save their loved ones. It brings to life animals from famous paintings. It is produced by Ulysses Filmproduktion (“The Amazing Maurice”, “Niko-Beyond the Northern Lights”, “Ooops! The Adventure continues…”).

Directed by Toby Genkel, renowned for internationally successful animated films, such as “The Amazing Maurice”, an adaption of the bestselling Novel by Terry Pratchett. His current project is the animated adaptation of Paul
